Hello

On 17-May-00, you remarked:

Actually, PKAZip will also work if the original zip file is created using
the -0 option. It cannot handle the other compression modes. PKZip on the
pc cannot handle some modes of Unix ZIP either, because the author of PKZip
decided not to support them in his commercial product. Incidentally, his
name appears in the credits for the Unix ZIP...

Here is another neat trick....

If the file is too big to fit on a floppy, use UUEncode with the multi-file
option. I found one called ESSCode that allows you to select the size of
each part. 512K is a nice size.

If it is a lot of files, zip them into one large archive. Many equal pieces
are better then a lot of odd sizes... Easier later too.

UUEncode into multiple pieces

Zip several of the individual UUEncode files (makes them ~25% smaller, but
the appropriate size for the disk), and copy onto a floppy. Three 512K
segments should fit on a HD floppy.

At the receiving end, unpack to HD, JOIN all the segments, UUDecode the
resulting file, and unpack as required.

It's a little complicated. But, let's see a windows user conceive
something this simple to solve a problem... They often aren't even aware
of UUEncode, or the multi part capability.

Regards

Michael
